Milestone reflects company’s growth as a leading thermal utility partner, helping industries improve energy efficiency, lower energy use, and reduce environmental impact

THREE RIVERS, MICH. August 18, 2026Armstrong International, a global leader in thermal utility solutions, today announced that Armstrong International India has manufactured and delivered 100 industrial heat pumps to customers across the Indian subcontinent. The milestone reflects the team’s growth as a leading thermal utility partner serving industrial sectors nationwide.

“Reaching our 100th industrial heat pump delivery reflects years of work across our India operation. It also shows the confidence customers throughout the country have placed not just in us, but in our industry leading technology designed to improve energy efficiency, lower energy use, and reduce environmental impact,” said Mahijeet Mishra, President – Asia & Oceania, Armstrong International. “India has become an important market as the industry here continues to look for practical ways to reduce primary energy use. This achievement belongs to everyone who helped turn those opportunities into working solutions.”

Armstrong International develops and manufactures its industrial heat pump systems in partnership with Combitherm GmbH, a family-owned manufacturer of industrial heating and cooling systems. The relationship combines Combitherm GmbH’s expertise in customized refrigeration and heat pump technologies with Armstrong International’s more than 125 years of expertise in thermal utilities and energy efficiency. Together, the companies deliver solutions designed for the operating requirements of industrial customers across India and throughout the world.

“Our team in India has done exceptional work building the local expertise and capabilities needed to support growing demand for energy-efficient solutions across the country,” said Kurt Armstrong, CEO of Armstrong International. “Delivering 100 industrial heat pumps reflects the strength of our team and is a clear, regional example of our global leadership at work.”

Designed for the requirements of each facility and application, Armstrong’s industrial heat pump systems are custom-engineered, integrated package solutions. The systems recover heat lost through stacks, cooling towers and sewage in the form of hot exhaust gases, cooling water, and heat escaping from equipment surfaces and heated products. In turn, the heat pumps direct that heat back to production as a useful energy source. This process is central to Armstrong International’s Circular Thermal® methodology, which can help facilities reduce primary energy demand by more than 80% and CO₂ emissions by as much as 50%.

  • Solution gaz traditionnelle : environ 40 tonnes de CO2 par an

Rossen Ivanov – Managing Director EMEA – Armstrong International

carbone d’ici 2050. Pour y parvenir, l’UE compte :

  • Réduire de 55% ses émissions de gaz à effet de serre d’ici 2030 par rapport aux niveaux de 1990;
  • Augmenter la part des énergies renouvelables dans la consommation d’énergie de l’UE à au moins 32% d’ici 2030;
  • Augmenter l’efficacité énergétique de l’UE d’au moins 32,5% d’ici 2030;
  • Investir 1 milliard d’euros dans la transition énergétique au cours des dix prochaines années;

The decision to further expand the project follows continued market momentum in industrial decarbonization, supported by the European Commission’s Innovation Fund, which plans to subsidize €1 billion to decarbonize industrial process heat by supporting projects that will electrify process heat using heat pumps and waste heat recovery.

“This is a significant investment for our team and a reflection of our long-term commitment to decarbonizing industry and advancing the global energy transition,” said Kurt Armstrong, CEO of Armstrong International. “As demand for industrial high-temperature heat pumps continues to grow, the Herstal expansion strengthens our position as a global manufacturer capable of meeting that demand, further complementing our production capabilities in the United States and India, as well as our established operations in China and Mexico.”

Armstrong finalized the acquisition of the industrial site this summer, which included a 3,700 m² production area scheduled for refurbishment as part of the project. The updated design expands this area to 7,000 m² to accommodate the new production line.

The refurbishment and expansion of the facility, located across from Armstrong’s current site in Herstal, will begin in 2026. Designed as an exemplary industrial site for the sustainable solutions offered by the group, the future factory will integrate sustainable technologies (geothermal energy, solar panels, water recovery, etc.). The facility will also include administrative offices, a high-temperature heat pump test bench and a training center; all demonstrating Armstrong’s commitment to innovation and energy transition.

The new facility is expected to create approximately 77 direct jobs in Herstal and an additional 300 indirect jobs across the European value chain, supporting regional industry growth and the broader clean-energy transition.

Speaking on the market dynamics driving the expansion, Rossen Ivanov, EMEA Managing Director, Armstrong International, highlighted the growing impact of European policy support and the rise of large-scale decarbonization projects across the region.

“The new European Industrial Heat auction mechanism provides the additional funding to achieve the shorter payback periods expected by industrial plants,” said Ivanov. “While it doesn’t replace traditional financing, it rewards companies that have already prepared these projects, helping bring more installations online by 2030 and strengthening market confidence in the technology’s efficiency and reliability.”

Ivanov noted that, alongside growing demand from industrial customers, Armstrong is increasingly engaged in district heating projects that recover excess heat from industrial sites, data centers, and hydrogen electrolysers to supply both urban centers and other industrial facilities. “Our 1-megawatt heat pumps bring modularity to these projects—reducing costs while enhancing reliability and flexibility for capacity management as needs evolve,” said Ivanov.

By 2027, Armstrong’s worldwide manufacturing capacity for industrial high-temperature heat pumps is expected to reach 250 MW/year, positioning the company to meet growing global demand for decarbonization solutions.

THREE RIVERS, MICH. [Oct. 18, 2024] —Today, at the 2024 ASPE Convention & Expo, global thermal energy solutions provider Armstrong International introduced Ascend®—the first high-efficiency, on-demand, gas-fired water heater with a fully integrated digital mixing valve.

This single footprint, tankless hot water generation and water temperature control solution is compliant with ASSE 1017, consumes less fossil fuel, reduces risks for scalding and waterborne pathogens (such as Legionella), and ensures precise +/- 2°F water temperature control. Ascend® heats water to temperatures above 140°F and distributes to points of use at a consistent, user-safe temperature using The Brain® Digital Recirculation Valve, Armstrong’s groundbreaking, precision water temperature control technology. The industry-leading water heater works seamlessly with Armstrong’s advanced hot water system management platform, SAGE®, for compliance with a Standard of Care such as ASHRAE 188 and VA 1061.

“The water heating market is being disrupted by a desire for net-zero buildings, and we see natural gas as a transitional technology,” said Kurt Armstrong, CEO of Armstrong International. “In response to the net-zero movement, industries like hospitality and higher education have long preferred high-efficiency gas-fired condensing technology. Although many municipalities no longer allow equipment that burns fossil fuels to be installed in new construction, many do still lack the necessary infrastructure to support total electrification.”

Additionally, with mechanical room space at a premium, electric water heaters need large storage tanks to keep up with peak system demand due to their slow recovery. Large storage tanks have been identified as incubation points for Legionella pneumophila that can lead to Legionellosis. Ascend® addresses these challenges and in the longer term can not only be integrated with a heat pump, but also upgraded to work with hydrogen and/or biogas when the utilities and infrastructure are able to support.

“Our intelligent solutions are hard at work, saving time, money and energy for some of the largest, most efficient companies around the world,” Armstrong added. “We are delighted to offer an exceptional product like Ascend® for both new and existing customers.”

Currently available in North America and offered in three sizes: 800, 1M, and 1.5M BTU. Ascend® is a component of Armstrong International’s Armada℠ Digital Solutions for Healthy Hot Water. Designed specifically for recirculating domestic hot water systems, Armada℠ addresses critical elements of a water safety management plan.

Patent-pending technology for mineral deposition on pipework and critical equipment is the latest addition to Armstrong’s Armada™ hot water ecosystem for healthy hot water

THREE RIVERS, MICH. [Jan. 22, 2024] Armstrong International, a global leader in efficient thermal energy solutions, today announced the launch of its latest product, the Armstrong Nanobubble Generator, a patent-pending technology developed specifically to address mineral deposition on pipework and critical equipment within industrial process and commercial/institutional hot water systems.

The Armstrong Nanobubble Generator transforms existing non-condensable gases naturally present in the water into an abundance of nanoscopic bubbles through a static, side stream application. The nanobubbles flow throughout the hot water system, naturally removing existing deposits and inhibiting the formation of scale, without adding anything to the water.

“This technology is going to revolutionize the way industries manage their hot water systems,” said Patricia Provot, President, Armstrong International – The Americas. “Whether used on a heat exchanger or strategically placed within the hot water piping infrastructure, the Armstrong Nanobubble Generator significantly reduces scale and prevents equipment degradation, improving the overall health of the hot water system, driving operational efficiencies and leading to a smaller carbon footprint.”

Easily installed, the Armstrong Nanobubble Generator has no moving parts and requires no maintenance or additional electrical inputs. Armstrong Nanobubble Generator use results in a cleaner, healthier hot water system, significantly improving operational efficiency and reducing equipment maintenance costs.

The new product is the latest addition to Armstrong’s Armada℠ Digital Hot Water Solution. Created to address critical elements of an effective water safety management plan, Armada℠ features a variety of Armstrong’s hot water products to provide best-in-class infection control, scald protection, compliance, and sustainability—from mechanical room to point of use.
